  • The ephod (Exodus 28:6-14), worn over the robe, is made of finely twisted gold, along with blue, purple, and scarlet yarn.
  • An opening is in the center, for the High Priest’s head.
  • Pomegranates of blue, purple, and scarlet yarn surround the hem of the robe, with gold bells between them.
  • The bells are heard as the High Priest enters and leaves the Holy Place, so God will not strike him dead.
