As Jesus sat on the Mount of Olives, His disciples came to Him.  They asked Him what would be the sign of His coming and of the end of the age (Matthew 24:3).

Jesus’ responses (Matthew 24:4-31) were clear parallels of Seals 1-6, depicted by John (Revelation 6:1-17).  The opening of the First Seal of the heavenly scroll (5:2) coincides with the start of the 70th Week.

Jesus told how the end of days would be marked by an escalation in wars, famines, earthquakes, and other disasters and calamities.  The initial 3½ years—the “beginning of birth pains”—will become increasingly heated and intense.  During this time, the Antichrist will rise to power, amidst worldwide destruction and death.
