“Peace” Agreement

It long has been felt that the covenant in Daniel 9:27 would entail some type of “peace” agreement involving Israel.  A main objective of the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership (EuroMed) was peace.

The achievement of lasting peace in the Middle East is a central aim of the EU.  The EU’s main objectives, in this area, are

  • a resolution of the Middle East conflict,
  • a two-State solution leading to a final and comprehensive settlement of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict based on implementation of the Road Map, and
  • Israel and a democratic, viable, peaceful and sovereign Palestinian State living side-by-side in peace within secure and recognised borders and enjoying normal relations with their neighbours (European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument: Israel).

The European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP) also contains elements pressing for Middle East peace.  These include an Action Plan, an Overall Assessment, and a Fiches on Partners.
