Search for Terms
Read These Instructions!
(This is not a very quick search engine. You may wish to do
something else while the search is taking place and return in awhile.)
- When you click on the “Open Search Engine” button above, a separate window will open. To close the search window, you must click on “File” (at the upper left of the search window) and then on “Close.” Clicking on the at the upper right will not close the search window.
- Type a word or text string into the text area to the right of “Search for”—for instance, vitreous humor.
- Use “Options” to fine-tune your search:
- as a string–search for pages with the phrase vitreous humor;
- OR–search for the words vitreous or humor;
- AND–search for the words vitreous and humor.
- By default, searches are not case-sensitive. That is, searches for vitreous humor would find matches of Vitreous Humor, Vitreous humor, vitreous humor, and other variations. If you want to find exact matches for the case of the word or phrase, check the box next to “CaSe SeNsItIvE.”
- After doing the above, click on the “Search” button to perform the search. The cursor will turn to a “wait” form (e.g., an hourglass) while the pages are being searched. (Go do something else and return later; the search will be slow.)
- The pages matching the query will be listed in the box titled “Search Results.”
- Click on a line in the “Search Results” box to view a page matching the query. This will open up the page in a new browser window. You will need to scroll down the page to search for the word or phrase that you are looking for.
- To search for another word or phrase, click on the “Clear” button and type in something new to search for.
- Remember to click on “File” (at the upper left of the search window) and then on “Close” to close the window.
