I was born and raised in Northern New Mexico. In 1975, when I was 20, after graduating from university with a B. S. degree in Math (minor in Chemistry), I moved to Orange County, California, to attend optometry school. I lived in virtual paradise (Southern California) for 6 more years, hanging out and enjoying frequent trips to my favorite city in the world, San Diego. Then, admittedly, the possibility that an earthquake or series of quakeswhich seem to have been on a marked increase in California since 1987might severely damage my home caused me great concern. During the Northridge/Reseda earthquake of January 17, 1994the most expensive natural disaster in U. S. history up to that pointI thought my house was going to slide off its foundation, even though I was 55 miles from the quakes epicenter! The quake measured 6.7 on the Richter Scale. Although it hadnt been the strongest quake I had ever felt (1st prize for that went to the 7.3 Landers quake, which soon was followed by the 6.5 Big Bear quake, both occurring on June 28, 1992), the Northridge/Reseda quake was the largest temblor Id experienced so close to home. Incidentally, if you never have felt an earthquake, it is very much like experiencing mild to severe turbulence while flying in an airplane...and is just about as much fun.
(To view a map showing the strongest U. S. quakes, 17501999, and to see how close you are to a seismically active zone, click here:
.) Anyway...I have a weird feeling that California will be rocked by a series of strong quakesmaybe even including the BIG one on the legendary San Andreas Faultbefore too long. All my friends there have been forewarned!![]()

I departed California March 28, 1997, having lived more than half my life, up to that point, on the West Coast. During my final year there, I wrote a novel, Pride Island (click on it and go to the Table of Contents if you would like to read a summary, a preview, and/or the novel itself). Prior to that, I also wrote a very long (600+ page) book, which is a detailed overview of the Bible. It contains hundreds of hyperlinked cross-references, along with over 4,700 hyperlinked scripture references. I have converted it into HTML
, and you can view it if you like, all for free: Creation ... Counterfeits ... and the 70th Week. Also, I have a comprehensive section on the eye called Anatomy, Physiology & Pathology of the Human Eye, a very descriptive HTML Tutorial, a Punctuation Guide, and a huge collection of Graphic Images if you would like to check them out!
Please return to my Home Page and take any of these and other assorted links that I have available. Thanks for coming!
