Compared to their all-time highs, the DJIA is down 8.78% (close to a correction market minimum of 10%), the S&P500 is down 19.44% (close to a bear market minimum of 20%) and the NASDAQ is down 33.10% (well beyond a bear market minimum of 20%).  It is questionable that any of these indices will recover those losses in 2023.

Following moderate to large declines in major stock indices yesterday, they had a rally today and closed with moderate to large gains.  Also, they were in positive territory for the entire trading day.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) was up 1.05% to 33,220.80, while the Standard & Poor’s 500 stock index was up 1.75% to 3,849.28.  The NASDAQ Composite index was up 2.59% to 10,478.09.
